For the fifth year in a row, businesses in the Becker Professional Building teamed up to host a drive-up barbecue to raise funds for a local non-profit.

 

This year, they chose to support Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, a Minnesota non-profit that supports local veterans.

 

This year’s annual fundraiser took place last Thursday and had a goal of $500 for the local nonprofit. The businesses set up tables and chairs in the building’s parking lot and served more than 110 people. The lunch raised $595, and the remaining hot dogs and hamburgers were sold at the Beck’s Pub horseshoe games later that evening, raising an additional $250.

 

Participating businesses included Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate All Seasons, Insight Eye Care, Kent Marketing, Able Bodies Massage & Wellness, and D&V Enterprises. 

 

Kent Graning,  director for Becker Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, was on-hand  for the event. 

 

“I would like to thank everyone involved in the lunch,” said Graning. “For all your hard work and the donation to the Yellow Ribbon. It will help out the organization a lot.” 

 

At the 2015 event, $358.50 was raised for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. In 2016, the event raised $637 for the Dylan’s Hope Foundation.

 

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program that creates awareness for connecting service members and their families with community support, training, services, and resources. Becker’s Yellow Ribbon community has a support group, helps veterans find employment, provides a “welcome home” for military men and women, and connects local businesses and volunteer groups with service members and their families.
