Dork, Dork, Dork...Where are you?
That’s the sentiment by many, many concerned followers of the crafty bird all over social media. Dozens of people ask weekly, “Has anyone seen Dork lately?”
Well, rest assured you Dork-ites...the feathery beast of Becker is alive and well.
Sherburne State Bank President Kevin Doty spotted the six-foot tall bird walking non-chalantly along Co. Rd. 4 near Hyttsten Creek Tuesday. He snapped a few photos on his iPhone and mentioned he couldn’t believe how loud the bird’s claws snapped off the tarred road as it headed in a westerly direction.
On social media, another follower snapped photos of Dork in the same location Tuesday afternoon. Many put out dog food to keep him fed but nobody knows for sure if he is eating it or finding food on his own.
Many followers are deeply concerned for the bird with the upcoming colder weather. Some think he’ll eventually make his way home to Tom Berry so it’ll have some shelter from the cold and snow.
Berry mentioned on Facebook that as long as there is green food around, he’ll most likely stay in the wild. When the “greens” become less and less, he hopes he’ll be able to lure him into a garage or dog kennel.
Laura Lapic Swanson conversed with the owner of Dork on social media and had this to say: “I hope he stays safe, I'm not too worried though, he seems pretty good at taking care of himself. I've enjoyed all the info you've shared about him. He seems quite the character!”
Berry responded.
“Emus are considered the clowns of the bird world. They can be good entertainment.”
Are Dork’s days on the lam numbered? Stay tuned.
