BECKER CITY COUNCIL MEMBER TRACY BERTRAM volunteered her time as a “local celebrity” at Freedom Days in the Becker Dazzlers dance team dunk tank Saturday morning. It was Bertram’s second year volunteering for the team that her daughter Brianna danced on before passing away from complications of cystic fibrosis last July.

Dazzlers A Mighty Vortex At Freedom Days

“Whirlwind!”

That is the word used by Dazzler Head Coach Laura Anderson that best describes this  summer for the Becker High School Dazzlers dance team.

The Dazzlers held a four day Freedom Days dance camp for 30+ girls and boys ages 3-12. The youngsters practiced for a performance in the Freedom Days parade as well as a performance in Downtown Becker following the parade in two separate groups.

These performances were followed by leaders of the Dazzlers leading Becker kids (and adults wanting to be kids again) in dance routines with Dean-o-Mite DJ.

Additionally — and in accordance with the team's annual Freedom Days annual tradition — the Dazzlers held their "Dunk a Dazzler" dunk tank fundraiser. Guest celebrities this year were Becker Chief of Police Brent Baloun, City Council Members Tracy Bertram and Rick Hendrickson, and Dazzler JV Coach Nadia Fischer-Danziesen.

The Dazzlers practice two-to-three days each week during the months of June and July and will be attending the Just for Kix dance camp in River Falls, WI July 19-22 to prepare for the competitive high school dance team season that begins in October.

Those interested in attending a Dazzlers dance camp can email Coach Anderson at: beckerdancecoach@gmail.com and watch for the Fall Community Education brochure. There will also be an email regarding the homecoming week dance camp this fall.
