Shed Church of Clear Lake is a Non-Denominational Christian Church established in April 2021, although they consider themselves a Christian Fellowship affiliation.
Shed Church?
In Hebrews 12, the writer urges all to throw off everything that hinders themselves, including sin, so one can run the race God has called us to run. “Shed” carries the idea of laying burdens, oppression, and baggage at the feet of Jesus – being rid of them, not just to be rid of them but to give room in our spirits to fix our eyes on Jesus. That’s how the name, Shed Church came to be.
The original members of the church began their journey with a few families meeting in a garage. As their numbers grew, God provided different meeting locations. Currently, they are meeting gratefully at the Clear Lake City Hall. The progress has been an adventure of faith and all members are excited to see where God continues to lead them.
New Leader
In December of 2024 Dean Cook was called to be the church’s pastor. Pastor Dean and his wife, Jessica have planted two churches and served as missionaries. Dean has a heart for discipleship and teaches through the Bible verse-by-verse.
Mission
The church’s mission is to lead people to a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ and to grow together as His faithful disciples. The congregates participate in meaningful, engaging music and thoughtful messages focusing their attention on a loving God. Their church encourages study, discipleship, and fellowship opportunities.
What to Expect
At their weekly 10 a.m. worship service, Pastor Cook goes verse-by-verse, chapter-by-chapter through the entire Bible. as part of the service, the worship team plays acoustic modern worships songs and hymns.
Their website promotes “No need to worry about what you’ll wear to church,”... for they truly believe people should come to God as they are.
“People don’t need to dress up to get God’s approval--that comes through Jesus’ sacrifice,” the website promotes. “Once you walk in the doors, you’ll see that the congregation is multi-generational and for the most part, everyone wears casual clothing.”
When one walks in, one will be welcomed by a greeter. They’re usually stationed at the front door and if one has any questions about the service itself, the greeters are able to provide helpful answers.
They also encourage visitors to hang around after the service for snacks. One can mingle and also have a chance to meet the pastor and many other people in the church.
