The Sherburne County Board last week approved a request by the auditor/treasurer’s department to publish a request for proposal to clean up three tax forfeited parcels.
The first parcel is an abandoned home with an outbuilding on Putnam Ave. in Big Lake.
Auditor/Treasurer Diane Arnold said the property, which is located directly across the street from Lake Cafe, has a home that must be demolished because of its poor condition. She said there is debris throughout the building. There is also water damage and mold.
Solid Waste Administrator Dave Lucas confirmed the building is not salvageable.
The other two parcels have no homes, but have outdoor trash and debris such as abandoned vehicles, old trailers and even a boat dock.
One is located in Deer Forest in Becker Twp. (2.5 acres). The other is a two-acre parcel on Co. Rd. 15 North in Big Lake Twp.
Arnold said the goal is to get the properties cleaned up so they can be included in the county’s tax forfeited property sale later this year.
Septage Application
The board approved a waiver for Mark’s Sewer Service for land application of septage abutting the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge.
The Sherburne County Solid Waste Management Ordinance requires a 600-foot setback from public contact site property lines for surface application.
The business owner, Mark Nutt produced a letter from the Fish & Wildlife Service allowing land treatment of septage within 30 feet of their border. The letter stated the areas of application are not likely to be used by the public.
The board approved the waiver.
New CHS Agent
The board approved the appointment of Amanda Larson as the county’s agent for the Sherburne County Community Health Board effective May 1. Larson is the county’s new community health services administrator, one of the positions previously held by Kathy Landwehr.
