The Becker Public Library will be hosting a Community Art Show reception, Thurs., April 27 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The show will be held in conjunction with the Becker Schools Student Art Show where over 200 works of art will be on display from K-12 kids.
A harp player (Colleen Austin) is scheduled to be on hand at the event and guests will be greeted at the door of the community center by performers of the Becker High School band.
The artwork will feature pieces in drawing, watercolor painting, oil painting, acrylic painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, photography, graphic design and textiles.
The community art show is open to established and emerging artists who could submit up to six pieces of original artwork for consideration. The goal of the event is to achieve a diverse selection of artwork that is of high quality in concept and construction and is appropriate for display in a public environment.
Awards will be presented to participating artists in each media category and a special award, People’s Choice” will also be presented April 27.
Many of the pieces will be displayed on the walls in the library as well as across the hall from the library. Cupcakes will be served at the reception for all attendees.
The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Becker Library.
