Clearview sixth grade band students joined up with band students from South Junior High Tuesday night for a combined concert.
"Having the Clearview Band Students playing with the South Junior High Band tonight gave our small band of 20 students the chance to play in a large group with 72 other students,” said Clearview Band Director Becky Wallin. “I'm so grateful to Anita Boster, band director at South Junior High, for letting us perform with her students. This opportunity also gives the students a preview of what is to come next year in seventh grade."
The combined sixth grade band played five songs to a packed house, including “Little Star,” “Cruisin’ Bluesin” and “We Will Rock You,” which had them also stomping and clapping.
"The favorite song that the students played tonight was probably “Stronghold,” said Wallin. “It's a very exciting and energetic piece and the students enjoy the challenge of playing parts that are very different from each other all together as a group."
This is the sixth graders first year of band, having begun when the school year started in September.
