Clear Lake Twp. Receives Plans For New Town Hall

During their meeting Tuesday night, Clear Lake Chairman Gary Gray informed the board he had met with the architect concerning the new town hall and they now have an official set of plans for the building.

The board will have a planning meeting in the near future; ideally the project will begin in April.

Road Report

Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk presented the board with estimates for potential 2020 seal coat projects, which included 38th Ave./76th Street, 41st Ave. 6, 50th Ave./75th Street, and 37th Ave., for a total between $60,000 and $70,000 depending on how the actual bids come back.

The board agreed all the projects should move forward.

Eyk said he didn’t recommend seal coating on 74th Street, as he believes it will need a reclaim and overlay in the next few years. That project is estimated at $80,362.

He also presented a more detailed estimate for future reclamation and resurfacing of White Farm Estates for $262,625.

Eyk informed the board they can expect an invoice from the county for striping on 108th Ave. and 127th Street for $859.

A motion carried to approve partial payment of $19,547 to Allied Blacktop Co. for seal coating.

Gray requested Eyk look into hiring a driveway crew for paving the new fill station.

Other Business

Evan Carlson from Monk Community Solar approached the board to explain their IUP request for the one megawatt solar farm they’re building on River Road. The name changed and a couple of minor changes were made from the original request.

Seeing no issues, the board agreed to send favorable comments to the county.

Board approval was given for Gray to sign the amended annexation agreement with the City of Clear Lake; a necessary verbiage correction was discovered by Bogart Pederson.

Supervisor Bud Stimmler asked if some sort of storage container, such as a semi trailer, could be purchased to store items picked up out of the ditches until spring cleanup day.

The board agreed and will look into options.

The picnic table has been delivered and installed in the dog park section of Clear Lake Twp. Park.

The sheriff reported a pretty standard month for August, which included three accidents, three medical, one domestic and one DUI.

The next Clear Lake Twp. meeting will be Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
