Clear Lake Twp. awards contracts for road work

A public hearing concerning the vacation of the alley at Elk Lake was held at the beginning of Clear Lake Twp.’s March meeting. With no public comment, the hearing was closed, after which 2024-03-19 Resolution to Vacate Reserving a Public Utility Easement was approved.

Road Report

The township held bid openings for two projects during their meeting. The first, the 71st Street surfacing project, consisted of three bidders, Hanson Paving, MN Paving & Materials, and Knife River. With the lowest bid of $11,746, Hanson Paving was awarded the project contingent upon review of the bids by Twp. Engineer T. Vander Eyk.

The second, the township’s 2024 seal coat projects, only received one bid. Allied Blacktop was awarded the contract for $51,155, which covers 67th, 70th, and 100th.

Supervisor Bud Stimmler informed the board the township has two potholes they need to address, one on 70th and one that’s developing on Sherwood Shores from tree roots pushing up the asphalt.

Other Business

A 2025 levy of $510,000 was presented at the township’s annual meeting, up $10,000 from the previous year due mostly to the fire contract increase. Clear Lake Twp. approves their levy at their September meeting each year.

The township agreed to send favorable comments to the county regarding the IUP requested for the Monk-Gohman Solar Farm, the variance requested for the Golly Solar Farm, and the Farm Related Activities and Sales CUP request from Dan and Cori Pearson to move their business from Ramsey Co. to their new property in Sherburne Co.

The board discussed vendors and pricing for the township’s May 4 cleanup day. Prices will remain the same as the previous year with the exception of general household junk, which was raised from $20 to $25.

The sheriff reported 141 calls for service for April, including 79 traffic, four medical, two school bus stop-arm violations, one motor vehicle personal injury, and one crime against an administrator of justice.

The next Clear Lake Twp. meeting will be on April 17 at 7 p.m.
