Cl Township Discusses Plans For Future Town Hall

Tuesday night, the Clear Lake Township Board of Supervisors reviewed preliminary plans for the future town hall they’re planning to build at the Clear Lake Township Park.

Dean Stienessen from HMA Architects walked the board through the preliminary floor plan of the new town hall, explaining they were looking for input on the different areas of the building.

The board felt the plan was a good start, and will discuss it further at a later date.

Supervisor Gary Gray informed the board he had looked into the three-step process they will need to go through to build the new township hall at the park, all of which will cost approximately $1,500.

A motion was made allowing Gray to spend up to $1,500 and begin the planning process.

Road Report
Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk informed the board he had met with Sherwood Shores residents to discuss driveway treatments when their road is reconstructed. The residents were in agreement that Sherburne County’s approach to the issue, which is in-kind replacement, was the way the matter should be handled.

Vander Eyk presented the board with the driveway policy he created to cover future projects.

Vander Eyk told the board he had discussed Riverwood Estates crack repair with Jeff Rhodes from Driveway Services, and they determined there were 65 to 70 cracks in need of repair. He indicated the price to be $150 to $175 per crack, for a total of around $11,000.

A motion was made for the project to move forward as described.

Elk Lake Dumpster
Rosalie Musachio, president of the Brigg’s Lake Chain Association, approached the board to request they consider placing another dumpster at Elk Lake. The board had removed the previous dumpster due to usage abuse.

She said the association’s goal is to keep the water in good shape, which includes keeping bait and garbage out of the lake. She told the board when the same issue had occurred with the dumpster at Rush Lake, offenders had been discovered through addresses found in the refuse.

Gray told Musachio if the sheriff was willing to monitor and take care of the problem the township would put the dumpster back. He indicated he would look into potential options and get back to her.

Other Business
The board approved an 85’ variance requested by Chad and Chelsea Gornik for a new septic system. Their property abuts agricultural land, which requires a 250’ setback.

The board passed their fence viewing resolution, which includes a nonrefundable deposit of $1,000 and an additional deposit of $1,500 for administrative costs.

A motion passed to split the $132 cost of six additional privacy panels for voting stations with the city.

Cleanup Day will be May 6; prices will be the same as last year.

The sheriff reported 117 calls for service for March, including 74 traffic, five accidents, three medical, two fraud and one dwelling fire.

The next Clear Lake Township meeting will be May 16 at 7 p.m.
