Celebrating 90 years and fighting the COVID blues

Over 80 family, friends, neighbors, VFW color guard and card club companions gathered for a surprise car parade on the strip in downtown Santiago last Saturday to  celebrate life-long Santiago area resident Sherman Anderson’s 90th birthday.

Approximately 45 vehicles, including the local sheriff and Santiago fire trucks, were all decked out with birthday greeting signs and balloons for Sherman’s 90th birthday.

Fun was had by all.

Anderson has lived in Glendorado for all of his 90 years and is an active member of the Glendorado VFW (now merged with Princeton Post 806). He is also an active member of Glendorado Lutheran Church and  a skilled, self-employed carpenter, avid golfer and loves throwing horseshoes at the Santiago horseshoe pits. He also enjoys playing cards with friends weekly in Santiago.

Sherman has really missed his weekly card playing hobby due to the COVID shut down, so Sherman’s family — along with several local residents — decided to bring some fun to Santiago.
