The Becker Chamber of Commerce, along with the city, will be holding their Winter celebration called Celebrate Becker, Sat., Feb. 25. The festival will feature dozens of fun activities including a snow sculpting competition in the backyard of the Becker Community Center.
Hundreds of adults and kids — from experienced to novices — will be grabbing their hand tools, shovels and eco-friendly paints to create 3D forms from Mother Nature’s frozen crystalline water.
Paul Larcom, a local snow sculpture expert (photo), will be on hand to create his own snow carving and help others as they merit. Paul has created snow masterpieces including giant snails, little leprechauns and even Han Snowlo — a tribute to the Star Wars character frozen in carbonite.
This year, Paul decided to do a tribute to Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia, after Fisher’s death late last year touched many lives including Pauls.
Come on out to the Celebrate Becker snow sculpting event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Buy a t-shirt, catch breakfast at Becker High School and spectate the fat tire bike race and other activities planned for this special day. What better way to celebrate living in Minnesota’s Best Kept Secret.
