Sen. Dave Brown

Brown Will Not Seek Third Senate Term

In an e-mail message sent Sunday evening, Sen. Dave Brown (R-Becker) announced that he will not seek re-election when his current term expires, making the next session his last in the senate. The complete text of the message, which was confirmed by a call to Brown’s office Monday, is as follows:

“It has been an honor and a privilege for me to have represented the people of Senate District 15 for these past five years. I have decided not to seek a third term in the Minnesota State Senate, but it will be my honor to serve for my sixth and final session in this upcoming year.

I would like to thank the citizens of District 15, the people of Minnesota, and the legislators who have made my time in the senate enjoyable.

Our state faces many challenges and opportunities in the future, and as my job in the private sector demands more of my time, I believe at this juncture in my life it is appropriate for me not to seek another term in the legislature. I am confident, however, that good candidates from across the district will consider running for this office.

I thank my wife and family for all of their support and sacrifices in giving me this opportunity to serve, and I thank the voters in the district for sending me to represent them in St. Paul.”
