Board Approves 2016 Fee Schedule

After a brief public hearing without public comment Tuesday, the Sherburne County Board approved the 2016 all services and fee schedule.

There were a few changes to the schedule. The biggest increases came in planning and zoning regarding larger joint septic system permits and review, which are typically part of a development and not a single home.

The escrow amount for design review of a Type IV or V subsurface sewage treatment system increased from $1,300 to $1,800. The escrow  for design review soil verifications and inspections for midsize sewer treatment systems increases from $2,000 to $3,000. The operating permit for those systems increases from $100 to $300, and the annual permit renewal goes from $30 to $50.

Zoning Administrator Nancy Riddle said the county has to hire out those inspections and reviews because Joe St. Dennis retired and no one in the office is certified to do them.

“It doesn’t really pay right now to have someone go to school for that,” she told members of the board.

Also in planning and zoning, a subdivision simple plat registered land survey increases from $100 to $300.

Other changes in different departments include an increase in the processing fee for computer printouts in the auditor/treasurer’s office from $10 to $25 and from $15 to $25 for archival search  beyond 10 years old.

Some fees went down.

In the sheriff’s office, the cost to get a copy of a 911 recording dropped from $50 to $20. And there is no longer a $0.25 charge for an accident report. It’s free.

Park shelter reservation fees, which were $10 for weekdays and $25 for weekends days, were eliminated from the schedule.
