BL TWP Supervisors pleased with 2023 Audit

(Editor’s Note: This Article has information from the June 12th and 26th meetings.)

2023 Audit Findings

CPA Manager Ashley Meagher was present at the June 26 meeting to share the findings of the 2023 Twp. Audit. The overall Audit findings were in good standing. Meagher shared that there was a positive working experience with management and the Audit went smoothly with nothing unusual to be noted. The only note was the lack of segregation of duties, however Meagher also noted that due to the size of the Twp. it was pretty common.

During the first meeting in June, the Twp. gathered information needed for the roads, signs, and mailboxes that would require construction. The Twp.’s mailbox ordinance requirement has been swing-away posts, though the post office requirement is for new developments to have cluster mailboxes. The board tabled the discussion, and it was brought back up during June 26th’s meeting.

Brenda Kimberly-Maas mentioned during the June 26 meeting that there was a phone call to Kelly postmasters and was told that the Twp. could petition to not have cluster mailboxes. Kimberly-Maas explained that they will need to write a letter explaining all the things that would make swing-away posts better for the Twp., including the potential damages from snow plowing and mowing that a cluster mailbox would see.

The Board of Supervisors discussed and made comments expressing some questions that they required more answers for. The Board agreed that they would need to table the topic until the July 10 meeting and possibly talk to Marc Schneider. The Board decided they would collectively send questions to Clerk Kimberly-Maas and these questions will be presented to Schneider at the next meeting for further discussion before they make any final comments.
