BL Legion hosts free Veteran’s Dinner

Last Saturday, dozens of veterans and their guests enjoyed a free pork chop dinner at Lions Park, courtesy of the Big Lake American Legion Post 147 and Big Lake American Legion Auxiliary Unit 147.

David Northernscold of Pork Chop Guys Catering grilled up the delicious pork chops while auxiliary members dished up bread, beans, colorful potatoes, cole slaw, desserts, applesauce, coffee and water to the numerous guests who came and went throughout the day at Big Lake Township Hall.

Some of the guests included were Mary and Ralph Kiffmeyer, Big Lake Council member Paul Seefeld (also Legion Cammander and Iraq war veteran) and Bud Stimmler (Clear Lake Legion). Also, John Jackson of Big Lake, who is a retired Army Master Sergeant and he brought his son, Caleb Nau.

The three-hour meal event was open to all veterans, active military and guests.
