Big Lake Ambassdors say goodbye to 2019-20 royalty

The mission of the Big Lake Ambassador Scholarship Program is “Empowering young ladies of Big Lake to be women of tomorrow through Community Service. To promote Leadership, Professional Development and Personal Growth with an opportunity to earn an Educational Scholarship.  Core Values - Honesty, Respect, Loyalty and Commitment.”

Each year a panel of judges crowns up to six young ladies in grades 3-12 to represent the town of Big Lake.  Before the girls are chosen, they participate in our candidacy program, called SPUDSCHOOL and focus on the core values we represent.  The crowned young ladies attend various events around Minnesota and serve the Big Lake community through community events and participation, working at the food shelf, volunteering with the Knights of Columbus, and helping the school district.  After completing their year of royalty, Big Lake Ambassadors are awarded a scholarship to be used in post secondary work or towards enrichment activities locally.

The Big Lake Ambassador Scholarship Committee would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Big Lake Ambassadors who will be ending their reign and crowning new royalty on Saturday June 26 on the SPUDFEST grounds at 1:30 PM.  Rose, Allie, Kalie, Issie, and Ella all served a two year term from 2019-2021 and Calissa served 2020-2021.  The girls wore their crowns well, helping to establish our new candidacy program, working endless hours within the community, and meeting many new faces while always wearing a smile.  This all would not have been possible without the help of Toni, Amy, Brad, Katie, Ed, Lori, Joel, Jon, Hollie, Lindsey and Derek.

We look forward to seeing where you go in life, always wear that invisible crown!  Next year we hope to see you back as we celebrate 50 years of SPUDFEST!

— Sincerely, Your Directors, Katrine and Laurel.
