A benefit to aid a local man is set for Sept. 7 from noon until 4 p.m. at VIbE Wellenss in St. Cloud.
Brad Soland, 27, of Becker was recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow — the spongy tissue inside bones where blood cells are made.
The illness started about two months ago and eventually led Brad into a visit with his primary doctor and onto the ER for a blood transfusion due to his hemoglobin level at 5.3. Brad has had numerous doctor’s visits, some blood work, and a bone marrow biopsy to find this diagnosis.
Brad had just started a window cleaning business and is an avid outdoorsman that enjoys fishing and hunting. Brad has not been able to work for over a month and his family is waiting to learn what his treatment plan will be. The word is he is a good candidate for inpatient, very aggressive treatment with the goal of remission. The treatment can have infertility side effects and therefore, options are being explored to ensure he will have an opportunity to have children.
Brad’s mom, Christine Gerth, has been keeping people abreast of Brad’s journey via a GoFund me page (www.gofundme.com search “Brad Soland”.)
Gerth says, “Mark your calendars for September 7, Noon - 4pm at VIbE Wellness for a benefit for Brad. There will be some cool items you will get to bid on during the silent auction. We have some great people and companies that have contributed and we could not have done it without you!”
There will also be a bake sale, raffle, food and bean bags at the fundraiser.
VIbE Wellness is located at 400 East St. Germain St., St. Cloud, MN 56304.
