BEF to honor outstanding community leaders

The Becker Education Foundation is holding their second annual Community Recognition Gala in a few weeks with the hope of drawing a great crowd to help the community in the Becker School District.

The gala is held to recognize and appreciate businesses and community members who have distinguished themselves through contributions to the Becker community through volunteerism, service, philanthropy, or social advocacy.

This year’s Outstanding Community Member Award recipients are: Ryan and Michelle Hubbard of Hubbard Electric; Doug Watercott of Mary of the Visitation Church and John Riebel of Becker True Value Hardware store.

The gala is being held Sat., April 30 at the Grill at Pebble Creek. Check-in time and cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m. followed by the award and recognition program at 7 p.m. The attire is formal/semi-formal and the cost is $50 per ticket (Event sponsors are also being sought in $250 and $500 denominations. For the $250 sponsorship, the individual or business would receive five tickets to the event and several advertising benefits. For the $500 price point, 10 tickets would be allotted with premium advertising benefits.

This year’s event sponsors are American Family Insurance - Amy Chmielewski; Sherburne State Bank; T. J. Potter Trucking; Wruck Excavating and Wruck Sewer & Portable Rentals.

All proceeds from the gala go right back into the Becker community in the form of scholarships and classroom grants for the Becker School District.

At the first gala, held in 2019 (2020 and 2021 were canceled due to COVID-19), Rob Olsen of Becker Baptist Church, Todd and Barb Potter of T.J. Potter Trucking and Joseph and Stephanie Gruenes of Dr. Stephanie Gruenes Center for Cosmetics Dentistry were honored.

The Becker Education Foundation is a nonprofit community organization, in partnership with the Initiative Foundation, that seeks to support teachers and students in the Becker School District. We are made up of several community members and alumni. We all care about and are committed to giving back to the schools that gave us, our children, and the community innumerable opportunities to grow and learn. Through the untapped energy and resources of the Becker alumni, as well as the continued support of the community and businesses, we hope to provide additional opportunities for the teachers and students of Becker. 100% of all money raised goes right back into the school through grants and scholarships.
