Alyssa O. and James S. were the individuals on the Becker Speech team to take home awards at the Feb. 19 speech meet in Forest Lake. Alyssa placed seventh in the Creative Expression category, and James took fourth in poetry honor finals. 

“Being surrounded by those who enjoy the thrill of competition is a really great feeling,” mused James. 

Last weekend, the Talking Bulldogs headed to Princeton, where they had a phenomenal showing. Alyssa O. took second in Creative Expression, Austyn C. took first in Poetry. Alyssa and Austyn also teamed up for the Duo category, claiming seventh place. Arleigh P. grabbed the top spot in Informative honor finals, while Bryn G. received an honorable mention in the same category.

Overall, Becker claimed third place as a team in the “small schools” division.

The Bulldogs will head to Sauk Rapids this weekend.
