Becker Library and Pebble Creek Golf Course once again partnered up during Great River Regional Library’s “Locally Growin’” fundraiser last month to help the library raise money for their branch. The goal of the fundraiser is to help each GRRL library raise money for special items for their own branch; 100% of the Locally Growin’ money raised by each library stays at that library.
The March 21 event was a success. The Becker Library received 10% of Pebble Creek’s food and beverage sales for the day, which equated to a check for $358 donated to the branch.
“I really want to thank the staff at the golf course for their hard work and support of the library,” said Becker Librarian Jeannette Burkhardt. “It was a busy day for them on the 21st. I ate lunch there and saw people eating and then going out for a round of golf or coming in from the golf course and grabbing something to eat. It was a great day for both organizations.”
The Becker Library had set a Locally Growin’ goal of $500 this year, which they plan to use for crafting and take and make supplies as well as Summer Reading Program prizes. The library is also starting to save for a non-traditional circulation item that will be announced in the future.
GRRL’s Locally Growin’ fundraiser has become an annual March event. All donations, no matter the size, help the libraries get closer to reaching their goals. The donations are tax deductible and can be given directly to the patron’s branch or donated online. The event is popular with patrons as all donations stay at the library where they were donated at.
