Baloun honored at retirement celebration

Outgoing Becker Police Chief Brent Baloun was honored last week as Pebble Creek hosted a retirement party for the chief who has served 18 years in the City of Becker.

Baloun will be officially retired at the end of 2024.

Baloun greeted guests last Wednesday as they poured into the dining area to enjoy drinks and nosh on some food and cake. There was a table set up to the side that featured wrapped presents, a box for cards and a poster board that contained a collage of photos of the chief from day one until current day.

Brent’s wife, Julie was on hand and she greeted many guests as well. Some of the attendees were Kathy Heaney of
Sherburne County, Mayor Tracy Bertram, several of Baloun’s officers and staffers and dozens of friends and acquaintances he’s made through the years.

Baloun has reiterated that he and his family are committed to stay in the community throughout his retirement.

Baloun posted the following statement on Facebook in reference to the retirement party.

“Tonight I celebrated my pending retirement at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker. To say I am humbled is an understatement.  I saw past and present officers/colleagues, current officers, officers from my department and from neighboring departments that I have worked with, in addition to close high school friends, community friends, and even a personal family friend who is a Doctor that treated me with every injury during my high school wrestling career.”

“Included were family and current City Council members who attended,” he continued. “Thank you all for taking the time out of your busy schedules to stop in tonight.  I may not have had the chance to speak at length with everyone but your presence meant the world to me.  Thank you to everyone as I approach the end of my career on Dec 31st.  I appreciate the outpouring of support  to me and the Becker Police Department.  This has been an incredible department and city to work for over the last 18+ years.  I will still be a part of the community and will continue to watch the successes of the city and Police Department.  Thank you all for your continued support now and into the future!”
