The Honor Guard of Becker American Legion Post 193 will conduct services at six area cemeteries Monday, (May 25) in honor of the national Memorial Day observance.

 

Services will be held at the Elk River Bridge (County Rd. 24) at 8:30 a.m., the Snake River Cemetery at 9 a.m., Santiago Cemetery (Reeds) at 9:30 a.m., South Santiago Lutheran Cemetery at 10 a.m., the Danetown Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. and the Becker Cemetery at 11 a.m.

 

Immediately after the services at the Becker Cemetery, volunteers from the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary will be serving a special Memorial Day dinner at the Becker Community Center from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the members of the Honor Guard being offered a place at the head of the line after the service.

 

Cost of the meal is $9 for adults, $4 for children aged five to 12, and free for children under age 5.  Dinner for all military veterans will cost $4 with proof of service (Legion or VFW membership cards or discharge papers).
