"I'll give him the same invitation every year, whether he likes it or not," says Scrooge's nephew, Fred, to his wife, Clara, as they discuss how Uncle Scrooge turned down their offer to join them for Christmas dinner. Scrooge observes the exchange with the Ghost of Christmas Present.

A Christmas Carol Returns To Riverside

The poignant Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol, can be seen at many venues this time of year, but one does not need travel far from their own backyard to find an excellent rendition of this holiday classic. A Christmas Carol is returning to Riverside Church for their 14th annual Christmas production.

Dates for this year's presentation of A Christmas Carol are Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 12 & 13 4 and 6:30 p.m. Free tickets are required.

This is the fifth year Riverside Church has presented this transformative story of that miserly curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge.

Life often has a way of turning us into people we never thought we would become, but, as Scrooge discovers, that does not have to be the end of the story.

The possibility of heart and life change is the hope of this enduring tale.

"We all need a change of heart at times," said Pastor Skipp Machmer, who produces Riverside's Christmas productions.

In the uncertainty of the world today, hope is a powerful notion. Through the message, drama, songs, and carols of this production of A Christmas Carol, hope abounds.

"We want people to see this well-known story," said Machmer, "but we also want Riverside to be a place where people can find encouragement and hope this Christmas. This is one way we can provide this opportunity to the community."

Over 100 people from the local communities are directly involved in the drama, choir, band, and tech for the production, and hundreds more volunteers will help guests from their car seats to their theatre seats.
