350 Kids Attend Area’s Trunk Or Treat Event

The Halloween holiday can sometimes be a scary experience — not just for kids and the fact that ghosts, monsters and clowns are lurking behind every bush — but the fact many parents and families don’t feel it is always safe to have their children carousing neighborhood streets, running up to stranger’s homes — all in the dead of night.

That’s the idea behind the annual Trunk-or-Treat gatherings seen throughout the country, growing in popularity.

Saturday was the third annual Trunk-or-Treat event held in the parking lot of Becker Furniture World. Members of the Becker Robotics, CIS 4607, hosted the event where participants park their vehicles, then hand out candy, toys and trinkets to little ones who go car-to-car.

Delighted youngsters — all dressed up as superheroes, athletes and animals, anxiously filled their buckets and sacks with goodies.

With the sun shining some of the time and a stiff breeze coming from the south, parents and children topped their costumes with gloves, mittens and hats to stay warm. Some of the “trunks” featured games for kids to play and Gold’n Plump Chicken’s chicken mobile got a lot of the attention.

Seventeen vehicles participated and it was estimated that 350 kids trick-or-treated during the two-hour event.

School organizations such as the BEA, DREAM Team, girls basketball and boys soccer had trunks. The event also had local businesses such as, All4Kids, Able Bodies Massage & Wellness, Becker Chamber of Commerce, GNP companies, Studio 5 Salon, Excalibur Collision Center, Foster Closet, Vision Taekwondo, and Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.
