3 vehicle collision in Becker sends 4 to hospital

Friday, Feb. 5, three vehicles were involved in an accident on Hwy. 10 just west of Co. Rd. 11 in Becker at 10:45p.m.

A black 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe was stalled in the middle of the westbound lane on Hwy. 10, without hazard lights, according to reports. Several children, aged 1-13, who had been passengers in the Santa Fe, were standing in the ditch for safety.

Emery Olson, a Becker teen, didn’t see the black vehicle in the road and crashed into it. Another vehicle, a 2017 Subaru Impreza with 23 year-old driver Kayla Norgaard of Becker and 15 year-old passenger Abigail Lorentz of St. Peter, then crashed into Olson’s vehicle.

Sahara Mahad Ketsene (driver of the stalled SUV), Norgaard, and Lorentz were sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Olson was also taken to the hospital, by his mother, Ann Olson.

“Our son could have been killed coming upon a vehicle sitting in the road with no one making any attempt to let him know a car was sitting there!” Ann Olson said. “We are also grateful that young family of eight were able to go home to their loved ones. Just do NOT understand why they wouldn’t put hazards on or wave anything in the air for that matter.”
