As part of the 2021 Fire Prevention Week festivities, don’t forget to visit your local fire department next weekend for their annual open house celebrations! Fire Prevention Week runs October 3 - 9.

Becker

Becker FD’s Open House event is scheduled for Sat., Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire house on Bank Street. As usual, the firefighters will have dozens of handy handouts with fire prevention tips as well as fire truck rides, a blow-up castle, high ropes demonstration and free coffe and donuts.

Another routine feature for the BFD is a visit by the North Memorial Air Ambulance that will land and allow visitors to get a close up look. Bring your family and friends!

Big Lake

The Big Lake FD’s Open House is October 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the fire station on Co. Rd. 43. Visitors will be treated to free pizza, popcorn, pop and bottled water (while supplies last).

Also, with Halloween lurking around the corner, free pumpkins will be given away for all kids who fill out their Demonstration Passport!

Throughout the event, visitors can enjoy a kids’ waterball activity, a live auto extrication demonstration, an Army and National Guard rock wall, DNR ATV Safety demonstrations, CentraCare Ambulance Tours, a demonstration by the Sherburne County Water Patrol Water Rescue Unit, face paimting, a bouncy house and much more!

There will also be officials from the BLPD and BL Fire Auxiliary and flybys and touchdowns of the North Memorial, Life Link and State Patrol helicopters.
