MnDOT is advising motorists to watch for lane closures on 1-94 from Clearwater to Monticello through November.
Beginning Oct. 14, crews will be building temporary lanes to prepare for the upcoming road resurfacing and widening of 1-94 between the two cities. Between 5 p.m. and 10 a.m., motorists should watch for nightly closures on westbound 1-94 between Wright Co. Road 8 in Hasty and Hwy. 25 in Monticello.
Between 6 p.m. and noon, motorists should watch for overnight closures on eastbound 1-94 between Wright Co. Road 8 in Hasty and Hwy. 24 in Monticello.
I-94 travelers are advised to allow for extra time for travel delays, especially during peak travel times, and to follow posted speed limits; fines are up to $300 in work zones.
MnDOT is improving the 39-mile stretch of I-94 between Clearwater and Maple Grove, including the addition of more travel lanes, rebuilding bridges, improving drainage, and resurfacing deteriorating pavement. A new interchange is being constructed on I-94 near Dayton.
The improvements will reduce congestion, improve safety, improve freight movement, enhance economic vitality and provide a smoother ride for users of I-94. Work will take place between 2019 and 2021.
