Bulldog heavyweight varsity wrestler Casey Vesledahl was one of 14 recently selected grapplers to be part of the St. Cloud Times all-area wrestling team.
“This is a pretty big honor for Casey,” said wrestling Head Coach Matt Aho. “I say that because I believe Central Minnesota has some of the best wrestlers in the state and to be selected to this team is very special.”
The following is a list of Vesledahl's accomplishments that merited his selection:
• A three-sport athlete during his four years of high school (football, wrestling and baseball);
• Two-time All Conference winner in wrestling;
• Four-time section place winner (fourth, third, third, first);
• 2015-16 wrestling captain;
• 2015-16 season record of 35-4;
• Career record of 89-26;
• Career pins of 51;
• 2015-16 he pinned 25 athletes (third best in school history);
• 2015-16 MSHSL state tournament record of most pins in the fastest time;
• 2015-16 MSHSL state tournament fourth place finish;
• 2015-16 all state winner;
• 2015-16 team awards received for most dedicated, most outstanding and most team points scored.
The other wrestlers from the area joining Vesledahl in the honor are: Teddy Dehler of Pierz, Saylor Schmit of Foley, Spencer Elwell of Foley, Cole Schreder of St. Cloud Tech, Brad Kroll of Royalton/Upsala, Kolten Eischens of Pierz, Austin Brenner of St. Cloud Tech, Peter Nelson of St. Cloud Apollo, Tanner Vasser of Annandale/Maple Lake, Hunter Rajkowski of Sauk Rapids, Rylee Molitor of Sartell, Shawn Rue of Paynesville and Nathan Garceau of Foley.
