I do not understand why the city needs to hire a $200 per hour consultant. As I recall the city spend $10,000 last year to perform a salary study at the city administrator’s request.
That study ultimately gave the city administrator and other department heads a significant raise and cost of living increase that was supposed to be in line with their job descriptions.
So why is this consultant being brought in at $200 per hour to do what the city administrator is already being paid to do? I also did not read anything to suggest that the council asked anything about references not associated with the person’s prior employment to justify paying “the going rate” without a record of accomplishments related to the services we should be paying for.
If the spending spree this city council has been on continues, I think it’s high time to hold the city council accountable and vote in people who best represent the people of Becker and it’s conservative values instead of growing a bigger government for the benefit of those who work at city hall.
