To The Editor

The Trashing of a Nation. From the very highest principles that once were as those profoundly recognized and prayed for in that great song America - with several parts of verses extracted here to reflect upon: “And crown thy good with brotherhood...God mend thine ev'ry flaw...Confirm thy soul in self control.”

There is so much to focus on today with all the destructive forces, happening with accelerated frequency and attitudes in our nation and throughout the world, that it is hard to keep up with it all. Thus the temptation of throwing up our hands and saying: what's the use. But if we love our freedom and independence the hands thing is not an option.

We have a military that has been gutted by the sequester several years ago that will take six years to rebuild.

We have lost nearly one half of our commanders through financial cuts and/or reprimand due to their opinion of objection to such financial cuts and just as importantly their opinion of the importance of keeping God in their relationship while serving their country.

When and if military engagement is called upon, attorneys rather than commanders, outline the methods of how and when engagements can take place.

The financial compensation for soldiers, who face life and death situations, to protect our freedoms, is of lower pay than politicians sitting in Washington.  Unions where are you on this one?

We know of the horror stories told and verified concerning the VA, when soldiers have to wait, and some even die, before they are afforded medical help while politicians have no problem getting immediate attention.

We are living in a country that ignored the repeated calls and pleadings, coming from Benghazi, for help from those representing us; working for us; serving our country; serving in behalf of you and me.

How about the ever so recent journey to Cuba by our national representatives who traveled seeking to have better relations and trade? Better relations on trade? How about the relations of the innocent citizens who are imprisoned because they were teaching their faith to their children and neighbors...was their fate considered first before consideration made to improving economic trade venues?
