Our state’s transportation infrastructure keeps Minnesotans moving, getting them to work, school, and appointments on time. During the August district work period, we had the chance to participate in some site visits for hard infrastructure projects happening in the Sixth District.
Early in the month, we participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for the U.S. Hwy. 212 Rural Freight and Mobility Project in Norwood Young America. Thousands of Minnesotans and freight trucks use this section of roadway every day to transport goods and reach their destinations.
Our office helped secure $6.5 million in federal transportation funding for this project and look forward to continuing to work with our local partners to ensure its completion.
Later, we had the chance to visit the site of the Hwy. 5 Mobility Project in Victoria. Our office fought to secure $7 million in federal funding for this project during the 2024 government funding process.
During our visit, we met with Victoria Mayor Deb McMillan and Members of the Carver County Board of Commissioners to discuss the project which will alleviate congestion and reduce the number of severe and fatal crashes along Hwy. 5 in Chanhassen and Victoria.
Investments in our state’s transportation infrastructure will help keep Minnesotans and our economy moving for generations. We will continue to prioritize and support long-term, targeted infrastructure repairs and improvements to ensure Americans’ tax dollars are being used effectively and efficiently.
