Remembering those who sacrificed

(Editor’s Note: The following column was submitted by Rep. Tom Emmer.)

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. While it is an opportunity to enjoy time with friends and family, it should also be spent reflecting on those who answered the call to serve and paid the ultimate price in defense of our great nation. Thank you to all of our Gold Star Families and those with loved ones who continue to put their lives on the line every day.

Recognizing Memorial Day

Memorial Day marks an important reminder that our freedoms aren’t free; they have been hard-won by our servicemembers. We must always remember and honor their sacrifice.

Join me in thanking the men and women who gave their lives in service of our nation, and all of those who have lost a loved one. Today and every day, you are not forgotten.

Another Successful Town Hall

This month, I hosted another town hall in Blaine. As always, we welcomed the chance to come together as a community and address the issues facing Minnesotans. Speaking to constituents in Sixth District is not only an important part of my work in Congress, but also one of my favorite parts of the job. Hearing directly from you has inspired some of our most successful efforts, including the COP House or the Abby Honold Act, which recently became law.

Talking with Esme Murphy

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to speak with Esme Murphy on WCCO to discuss issues at the forefront of many Minnesotans’ minds: inflation, formula shortages, and more.

Young Women’s Leadership Program

For the last seven years, our office’s Young Women’s Leadership Program has connected present and future women leaders in the Sixth District. We have begun accepting applications for the 2022 Spring/Summer session, which will include sessions featuring women leaders in law enforcement, trades, and healthcare.

High school age girls in the Sixth District are encouraged to apply.
