TO THE EDITOR:
I heartily disagree with the recent letter to the editor from George Quinn. I believe that Minnesota’s political leaders are elected to represent and work for the interests of Minnesotans, not to be apologists and lapdogs for a foreign nation (Israel, in this case). Israel already sops up 4 billion dollars from American taxpayers each and every year, much of which has been used to perpetrate oppression and war crimes. If Israel persists in being an international welfare state, it must be ready to accept criticism of it’s methods and actions from US politicians who have the courage to do so. US Senator Bernie Sanders, who is Jewish, insists that Israel must be held to account if it continues to ask for and receive aid from American taxpayers. That’s just common sense.
