TO THE EDITOR:
Did you know that Sherburne County had published a “2040 Comprehensive Plan” DRAFT and asked for the public to comment on the draft at a Public Hearing on 9/21/23?? This “Plan”, is being written to establish goals and polices to guide land use within the county. I attended this public hearing, and was one of only two people to speak on this DRAFT, more than likely because no one knew that it was going on! I’ve reviewed the entire 122 page document and wrote up 19 pages of comments that I’ve forwarded to the Planning Commission, Co Commissioners and many of the cities, townships and communities in our county. The two main problems I have with this DRAFT are: (1) – Instead of being written to try and maintain the standard of living, environment, level of taxation, level of crime, small town feel, this document is all about building more, spending more, bringing in more people, making it easier for developers to acquire our land and make a profit. (2) – This document is attempting to inject “race”, into the decision making process using terms such as “Equity”, “Diversity” and “Inclusion”, without a single mention of the word, “Equality”. This is not Sherburne County.
