Letters To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

Certainly not me 46 years ago when living in Colorado I was influenced by a neighbor who made bread for her family with wheat grain that she milled into flour. I was convinced and purchased a mill and a Bosch mixer. I was on my way to healthy eating for my family that continued through the years to this day.  I never dreamed (dreamt?) the day would come where I would be selling my bread to people who never had the experience of tasting such a wholesome product, full of the natural ingredients God intended for us to eat. The twists and turns on life’s path, sometimes very disappointing, bring us to places that are the beginning of an adventure that we never would have expected.  Never!  When Costco hired me to be a  food sample demonstrator, I didn’t expect to meet a Little Falls baker.  The conversation we had while he was at my stand would change my life for the next five years, to this date. Selling in Brainerd was exciting during those years as we were at the Farmers Markets and also selling in our yard on a busy corner of Riverside Dr.  Friends, who had a health food store in the area, let me use some office space to sell breads in the winter months.  The course of events in my life during the past year led me to Clear Lake and God has opened doors for me to have my breads available at this time in Becker at Bill’s Family Foods every Thursday.

TO THE EDITOR:

Recently what has been referred to as “Tax Rebates”, have been issued by the State of Minnesota thru a Montana company, and a big to-do has been made of how these “rebate” checks arrive looking like junk mail and some have expressed concern that people may throw them away instead of opening them.  My concern is different.  The definition of a “rebate”, is to “return of part of the original payment for some service or merchandise;  partial refund.”  This latest MN “rebate” doesn’t even go to individuals that made more than $75k, ($150k for a couple), but is being sent to people that paid little to no State Income Tax in 2021.  I paid in less than $40 in 2021 and yet I received a $260 “rebate” check!  This is not a rebate, it is Welfare and/or Wealth Redistribution.  How can the State of Minnesota continue to call these checks “rebate” checks? . . . it’s because they are attempting to change the definition of the word “rebate”.  Changing the definition of words and terms has long been known as a Marxist tool for taking over control of the population.  Thank you Governor Walz and Minnesota’s Marxist-Democrat Party.

TO THE EDITOR:

What is a woman? For millennia it was understood that there were only two sexes, male and female, based on genitalia. However, this basic question could not be answered by the most recently added justice to the U.S. Supreme Court, Ketanji Brown Jackson during her confirmation hearings. Is a biologist required? Congress passed Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 that finally recognized and codified the principle that men and women should not be discriminated against on the basis of sex, especially in sports, “under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.” The benefits for women, especially, were immediate and long-lasting, such as providing equal participation and scholarships. Biological women competed against biological women, on a level playing field. Now the Biden Department of Education has proposed broadening the definition of woman to include biological males identifying as transgendered women. There were 156,000 comments to the DOE proposal, most in opposition due to the unfairness of having women compete against stronger men. Implementation of the proposed changes has now been temporarily delayed. Although Minnesota has allowed this inequality in its high school athletic programs since 2014, and in 2023 codified it in law, your voice on this national issue is important. Write your Congressman with your opinion.

TO THE EDITOR:

Pam and I would like to thank all those who helped plan, and all who attended the special football stadium celebration Friday night.  What a wonderful community gathering at our new amazing facility.  Becker is an awesome place to work, attend school, live, and play.  We are  blessed to be supported by so many.  Thanks. God Bless each of you. See you again next Friday night.
