(Editor’s note: Due to space constraints, the Patriot will publish up to 5-6 LTEs a week as space allows and carry over unpublished letters to the next week, if able. Also, we no longer have a policy which restricts letter writers from submitting political editorials a week prior to an election.)
TO THE EDITOR:
I started submitting editorials, because I thought people in our community were more connected/knowledgeable than myself about the inner workings of our community by “trusted” locally elected and campaigning officials and I wanted to get educated. Well, I got educated. Getting involved has been positive and disheartening. Seeing friends/neighbors “bullied” into NOT exercising their Constitutional Right under the First Amendment to display/voice their opinions, because of personal targeted repercussions. How does this happen and how do we STOP IT? We rally as a community for what is right! Lies are being spread about “leasing” farmland/solar panel farms. Going as far as having Sen. Tina Smith visit the Sherco Plant in Becker, to discuss the plant shut down. Not the millions of dollars of environmental upgrades made to create “clean reliable energy” within the plant. Sound familiar? The “Green New Deal” is toxic. A local campaigning official is shutting your food supply down, by leasing hundreds of acres of farmland, similar to our current Governor and Presidential administration, shutting you down. We need a Sherburne County District 4 Commissioner that we can trust, not one that hides behind fine print. Vote Jerome “Lefty” Kleis on November 8, to fight for you!

TO THE EDITOR:
The Biden Department of Education is proposing a radical Rule change regarding Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex. Basically, this would allow males identifying as females to occupy your daughter’s spaces. Ideology, rather than science-based evidence, is the justification. Add your voice opposing this change by going to www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/07/12/2022-13734/nondiscrimination-on-the-basis-of-sex-in-education-programs-or-activities-receiving-federal and click on “Submit a Formal Comment”, due by Sept. 12, 2022. Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 was a triumph for women in the advancement of equal education opportunities which also included sports and a new equality for professional advancement. The proposed rules will eliminate those opportunities and result in irredeemable harm to women and girls. The level playing field is destroyed with a redefinition of the current national question, What is a woman? “Fairness” in the treatment of women has long been a much sought after ideal, such as equal pay for equal work, and the overdue opening of military and law enforcement positions for women. The proposed rule would redefine “sex” as no longer understood to be an immutable characteristic, but instead merely a subjective self-declared and mutable “identity.” Say NO to this change with your comment.
