Letters To The Editor

(Editor’s note: Due to space constraints, the Patriot will publish up to five LTEs a week as space allows and carry over unpublished letters to the next week, if able. Also, we no longer have a policy which restricts letter writers from submitting political editorials a week prior to an election.)

TO THE EDITOR:

For a newspaper named the Patriot, your silence is deafening! You have printed nothing about the January 6, 2021 insurrection at our nation’s capitol.  After public hearings and months of testimony, it is now crystal clear how former president Donald Trump lied, disregard the will of the public, and violated his oath of his office. There is not a shred of evidence to back up any claims of Trump’s “Big Lie.” The House Select Committee hearings laid out in painstaking detail the progression of failed attempts to discredit and overturn the election, and ultimately attempt to overturn it by force. The Patriot, a valued source of local news and events, has the right and freedom to disseminate whatever news and opinions it may espouse. However, the Patriot is missing the opportunity to be truly patriotic by avoiding any coverage of the facts behind the insurrection. Rights and responsibilities go hand in hand. With upcoming midterm elections and 2024 presidential election, I encourage the Patriot to inform its readers of the facts, and seriousness, of January 6th and the “Big Lie,” and the impact they have on the future of our republic.  That should be the responsibility of all newspapers.

TO THE EDITOR:

Rachel Wolfe please consider this the next time you inhale the sweet smell of carbon dioxide fumes. Gulf of Mexico BP deepwater oil spill. 206 million gallons killed 100s of birds and marine life. Ciudad Del Carmen, Gulf Of Mexico 10 to 30 thousand barrels spilled each day for almost a year. Major impact on marine life. Exxon Valdez spill, estimated 250,000 seabirds, 2,800 sea otters, 300 harbor seals, 250 bald eagles, 22 killer whales died. With billions of salman and herring eggs. 1941 US and European oil embargo was a major catalyst for Japan to go to war. The bloody Iran-Iraq war evolved into a tanker war and eventually put the US in direct hostilities with Iran. Iraq invaded Kuwait for oil surpremacy which resulted in 500,000 US troops in Saudi Arabia. (Desert Storm). Global transportation produces 7.3 billion metric tons of CO2 annually with passenger cars accounting for 40 percent of transportation emissions. The APP used was probably a major reason for poor planning.

TO THE EDITOR:

Mr. Emmer, being the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee, I would have expected that you would have made a statement by now concerning the FBI raid on former President Trumps Florida property by now, but I haven’t heard or seen anything?!?  I even checked your website for something under your “Issues”, or “Media Center” tabs.  Are you going to address these current events?
