Letter To The Editor

TO THE EDITOR:

In response to Bill Morgan’s editorial in the Jan 25th edition of the Citizen-Tribune:

As a local businessman for the last 40 years, I have maintained a philosophy of total silence, (especially anything related to politics), in part because I am probably a coward, and in part not to intimidate potential customers or present friends. Also I pretend not to be a learned man about political issues, for obvious reasons. But it is impossible to stay quite...

Bill Morgan, hats off to your courage, or perhaps not, if you were hired by Gary M. to lend your personal opinions. I’ve known Gary for a long time, and something doesn’t feel right about that already.

For the record, I voted for Trump. But I have enough courage to admit my error, as early as his second month in office when he began showing his stupidity about climate change. Now after some 1600 days in office, it is so difficult to conceive the rational of people like you, Bill. Try to forget “Party” for just a second. You are worshiping a man who 1.) is a fake billionaire 2.) has (as of December 16) issued 15,413 false or misleading claims, 3.) has been accused by 23 women of all kinds of sexual misconduct, several of which have been proven beyond any doubt, 4.) Promised us “national security” with his 1954 mile wall that Mexico would pay for. So far, 93 miles (.05%) are done, 90 of those to replace existing barriers, paid by tax-payer money, also taken from other accounts, such as the Coast Guard (who is a main-stay of our natural security!) (Incidentally, the wall is not effective, and part of it f ell over this week from wind) 5.) has pulled America out of the world family (Paris Agreement, and a growing list of countries (allies) that now have no respect for us whatsoever) , 6.) retains unbelievable conflicts of interest, from giving his whole family government “jobs”, to countless business dealings world-wide. 7.) continues to demonstrate his anti-Semitic and other racial biases. 8 ) has continuously undermined and ridiculed the FBI, CIA, Homeland Security, most of his closest and most important advisers, and the entire Judicial and Legislative branches of our government. (Bill, this is our system of checks-and-balances. If you don’t think this is important work, then find another nation with a better system and move there.) 9.) promotes his business attitude on our country (at one time I thought this would be good), and this has perhaps (very short-term) positively influenced our economy, but at the cost of our environment, the under-privileged,  the lower class,  the next generation, 10.) He undeniably elicited a foreign power to investigate OMG the list goes on and on and on.

Bill, you are obviously a perfect obedient far-right-wing student, freely (and filled with hatred) calling everyone in the other party : “Twisted”, “Trump haters”, “no regard for the future of this country”, “dirty birds”, “knuckleheads”. Trump’s goal (and your opinion, obviously) of what a “GREAT” America should be could easily be America’s demise.

Bottom line, I guess you are saying that there is nothing wrong with a POTUS to bribe another country, with our tax money (and allocated by our congress to aid in stopping the aggression of an enemy state), for the sole purpose of advancing his personal objectives, and following this absurd act up with corrupt and obvious obstructions of Justice. Are you serious? If this is OK, just think about the future ramifications. Try again to forget about PARTY. Sorry, it is NOT “ridiculous”. Far far from it.

NOTE: you have a lengthy paragraph asking the “twisted antagonists” to look at where we’re at. Strong military? It is in complete turmoil. My son is in the military. Believe me. Peace in Korea? Are you kidding? They blatantly continue to develop nuclear weapons. Respect around the world? You’ve got to be kidding!!! Border security don’t go there either! OMG at least pick sensible examples!
