TO THE EDITOR:
Bill Morgan’s recent column about the national shame of the impeachment has raised an alarm for me. I am not writing to contest his assertions, however. Rather I am concerned about the tone of his invective.
Sadly, our country is deeply divided politically and culturally. I believe that the first step toward desperately needed reconciliation is for all of us to respond to the opinions of others with respect.
Mr. Morgan could have offered a reasoned persuasive argument for his views without stooping to labeling those with differing political opinions “lacking in sound mind and judgement” or hateful, “twisted” “dirty birds” or “knuckleheads.”
