TO THE EDITOR:
We have been receiving calls from residents who believe that Gov. Walz’s comments last week about allowing some businesses to reopen mean that the Sherburne County Government Center is open again.
We have told these callers that we can’t open the services they are seeking - largely driver’s license and property tax payments - because customer facing services are not allowed to reopen at this time.
If you are doing any reporting about business closings and would consider emphasizing that difference for thepublic, we’d greatly appreciate it.
While we can’t do anything about driver’s license transactions, we do accept property tax payments trhough a drop box at the main entrance to the Government Center (Door A).
With COVID-19 social distancing requirements, some residents might not feel comfortable coming to the Government Center for a County Board meeting. We created a form that residents can use to submit comments that will be forwarded to commissioners. Any assistance you can provide in informing the public about this option is appreciated
The form and guidelines for filling it out can be found here: https://www/co.sherburne.mn.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=213
