Letter To The Editor

Landowner or Neighbor? “What’s the difference?” you ask. It is a question I have asked myself recently.

It is not the amount of land one owns. Each may have a fraction of an acre or thousands of acres. It is not who lives next to you; a landowner can be next to you and a neighbor can live miles away.

Here’s the difference: A landowner takes all they can get; a neighbor is always ready to give. A landowner can own thousands of acres and yet squabble over mere feet. A neighbor will give of time, energy, and sometimes so much produce frm their garden you’ll think you’re competing with Green Giant. When a crisis comes, a landowner drives by without noticing; a neighbor is at your door asking what they can do to help. A landowner  will stab you in the back; a neighbor will let you know they “have your back.” A landowner gets their way by being a bully (and please remember, nobody like a bully); a neighbor simply has to ask.

I have been acquainted with both. Which one am I? Which one are you?
