TO THE EDITOR:
On behalf of the members & staff of the Clearwater Legion, we would like to say thank you to all who came & supported our Homeless Vets Benefit on August 1st. Also, a big thanks to all the members & volunteers who put in countless hours to ensure the success of this event. We had a wonderful turn-out & raised a great deal of money for several awesome charities including Angel Reigns Stable, St. Cloud Stand Down & Patriot Assistance Dogs. All of which provide assistance to our very worthy Veterans.
We took every precaution to ensure the safety of our guests. From providing face coverings, sanitizers on every table & the spacing of tables & chairs. We thank everyone for following the guidelines.
With that being said, I would like to reach out to the individual who filed a complaint against us to the Department of Health. We had a counter at the front gate & at NO time did we have more than 225 people on the premises. Contrary to you stating we had 400 people here. A Public Health employee came to the Legion to investigate the complaint & found it to be unsubstantiated. I have the inspection report with a big, fat ZERO violations to prove it! I am very disappointed that someone would try to start trouble where there was none.
I appreciate the fact that these are very frightening times right now but wish that you could find something better to do with your time. How about raising funds for Veterans Organizations?!?! Again, thanks to all for your support & generosity! God Bless!!
