TO THE EDITOR:
I’ve been looking forward to the coming local election for two years and with great expectation as we have a chance to either validate the wisdom of appointed representatives or choose a new direction.
To be clear, we are blessed in Big Lake with some of the finest local leaders anywhere both in and out of office. I would like to take a moment, though, to endorse someone for city council who is honorable, qualified, devoted to Big Lake, and my friend.
I’ve known Paul Seefeld for many years now through community events and church and I’m richer for it. Through Paul, I have become more aware of the needs of this community. Through him I have met the Mayor, council members, city planners and staff. At Paul’s suggestion I requested the opportunity to fill an opening on the Big Lake Economic Development Authority to try and make a difference. Paul is a huge encourager of people getting involved and I genuinely believe if he were elected to the city council, he’d be even more effective in getting community participation.
Given his desire to keep our property taxes low, reduce unnecessary spending and provide a new elected voice for those of us that felt left out, Paul Seefeld is a great choice for me to support.
Paul is at many local council meetings and a huge organizer of getting others to attend. He’s a tremendous believer in the philosophy that, “If you hold government accountable, they will make better decisions.” The reality is we need to stay vigilant and Paul is.
Consequently Paul, though he would be a fresh and new energy on the council, is actually ready to hit the ground running. He’s aware of how the city operates, is familiar with the existing council and looks forward to working for a Big Lake with a bright growing future.
I respectfully ask that you consider voting for Paul Seefeld, Big Lake City Council, this November.
