TO THE EDITOR:
Following recent events in regard to the censoring of President Donald Trump, any further actions regarding allowing Google to build a server farm in Becker need to be suspended.
As you’ve heard, Twitter has banned President Trump (and thousands of other American voices) from their platform. Parler, an alternative to Twitter has been shut down because Amazon kicked Parler off their servers. Even when Parler finds a new host, it will be difficult for new users to join as both Apple and Google have removed the Parler App from their stores.
Google is owned by Alphabet, which also owns YouTube has just suspended President Trump’s accounts.
Why would you want to support this un-patriotic, anti-free speech company? Yes, Becker wants to find someone to make up their tax base loss as a result of Sherco closing but bringing in Google would be like paying protection money to the mob. If Becker/Sherburne County wants a server farm built, I’m sure there are other companies that would consider building here. It might take a little longer to realize but that is better than supporting a company that is intent on removing your right to free speech while standing with their boot on your throat.
