TO THE EDITOR:

Like many of you, I’m shocked to the core by the attack on our capitol by domestic terrorists, who were abetted by the continued lies from our elected officials about election fraud.  Even though there is absolutely no evidence that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were elected in anything BUT a free and fair election, our representatives are so frightened of losing Trump voters they continue to lie to them.  I think we all know those voters will not listen to the truth, so I’d like to address something else.

Historically, when Democrats win, GOP state legislatures pass stricter voting laws, aka trying to suppress the vote, especially the votes of poor people and people of color.  After we get the pandemic under control, I’m calling on Democrats and Republicans in our state legislature to take up election laws and procedures IMMEDIATELY, so that those of us who are fighting to hang on to our Representative Democracy know what we need to do to make sure that all eligible Minnesotans are able to exercise their CONSTITUTIONAL right to vote in the next election.
