TO THE EDITOR:
This year I am voting for Anne Kostrzewski for County Commissioner. She is running for District 3, which includes Becker City, Becker Township, Orrock Township and small part of Elk River.
She is a solid conservative and represents our community values well.
I am very concerned about the direction Sherburne County is heading.
There are three simple reasons why I am voting for Anne Kostrzewski this year.
First, Anne Kostrzewski is Pro Life. Sherburne County needs to stay that way.
Second, Anne Kostrzewski will not vote to give herself a raise.
According to public records, in 2018, the county commissioners made $49,272.00 per year. They voted themselves a raise in 2019 which brought it up to $51,978.00 per year. Over the past 10 years, most of the commissioners voted several times to INCREASE their salaries. Giving elected officials the ability to vote themselves raises is not good policy. I believe that the voters should decide this. County Commissioner raises need to be on the ballot.
Also, the current county board voted to INCREASE county spending – which we all pay for in taxes.
In 2018 Sherburne County spent $85 million. In 2019 Sherburne County spent $96 million and in 2020 Sherburne County spent $97 million. This is all public record.
Voting to INCREASE spending AND then voting to INCREASE salaries does not sit well with this voter.
Third, Anne Kostrzewski will openly SUPPORT the Second Amendment. Our state legislators asked the county board to do so early this year and the board refused to do so. This too, is public record.
This year, I am voting for the candidate who best represents the conservative values of Sherburne County. This year I am voting for Anne Kostrzewski for District 3, County Commissioner. I ask you to do the same.
