TO THE EDITOR:

There appears to be a move afoot to make Sherburne County a Second Amendment Sanctuary County. Why? Why do we need such an action when we already have the Second Amendment guaranteeing our right to bear arms.

This movement is symptomatic of a bigger issue, that is internet and social media include a deep state that promotes scary but fake issues like a government plan to take our guns. Come to think of it, social media is directly responsible for promoting the tribalism that has gripped our country. Social media algorithms look at your interests and feed you sites promoting similar interests, even if those interests are based on falsehoods.

The best thing we can all do is step away from social media and turn to reliable sources for our information. There are a number of sites that will tell you if a site is biased or truthful, including sites like MediaBiasFactcheck.com, allsides.com, and adfontesmedia.com.

And as far as that Second Amendment Sanctuary County scare goes? C’mon. Why would we replace solid commissioners like Tim Dolan, Lisa Fobbe and Barb Burandt for a deep state - and false - premise about the 2nd Amendment.

Please reelect Commissioners Dolan, Fobbe and Burandt!
