Two weekends ago I went to see Sound of Freedom at the theater. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, I highly recommend you take advantage of this opportunity to see an eye-opening, stirring production focusing on child trafficking.
As many people know, this movie actually completed production in 2018 or 2019 and was shelved by Disney, who owned the distribution rights. It wasn’t until this year that Angel Studios acquired the worldwide distribution rights from Disney and released the film in a limited number of theaters.
Sound of Freedom is based on the true story of Tim Ballard, a former US government agent who quits his job to rescue children from global sex traffickers. The movie aims to increase the growing movement to expose this heinous crime and inspire people to take action.
The small movie from indie studio Angel Studios has grossed over $125 million in just three weeks
Sound of Freedom stars Jim Caviezel, the actor who portrayed Jesus Christ in the movie, Passion of the Christ, who plays Ballard in the Sound of Freedom film.
Caviezel gives a powerful message during the end credits of the movie that caused not one person in the theater I was in to get up and leave following the film’s conclusion. This man has been deeply affected by this story and I believe this will be his life’s mission from here on out to continue to raise awareness and bring these children home and bring these heinous criminals to justice.
Mel Gibson is also partnering with Caviezel in exposing the world to these kinds of sex trafficking crimes.
It’s rather sad, however that the push-back this movie is getting is from liberal-minded idealists claiming “human trafficking is overwhelmingly committed by close friends and family members, not scary foreigners as depicted in the movie.” Or, other hate-mongers saying, “It’s an idiotic grift by insane Q anon fascists...” or, “I don’t like supporting people who think that I’m a child groomer.”
Another commenter I read said, “Right wing nuts... they don’t care about child trafficking. If they did, they wouldn’t support a movie that lies about what trafficking actually looks like and supports organizations (studios, churches and conservatives) that have arguably done more harm than good for the issue.”
Well, you can all say what you want and so can I. Human trafficking is a real problem in this world we live in and those who oppose this kind of story must have some stake in it or their hatred for Christians, Conservatives and truth is driving their hysteria. Omission by ignoring or disagreement is equal to promoting.
The US is the largest consumer of child trafficking. It is estimated that between 15,000 to 50,000 women and children are forced into sexual slavery in the United States every year. Just go to the US Dept of Justice’s website (www.justice.gov/criminal-ceos/child-sex-trafficking) and see for yourselves.
As Caviezel says in the movie, “God’s children are not for sale.”
Republican, Democrat, Conservative, Liberal, or Independent....either you are for this evil, or you’re against it.
