Tuesday evening’s snow makes it hard to believe, but Becker Freedom Days is just 10 weeks away, and this year’s celebration will be bigger and better than ever!

Did you know there’s a special faith-based event scheduled for Thursday night this year? And that’s not the only new addition to the lineup.

While a complete list of activities for the special week can be found at beckerfreedomdays.com, one special event is planned for Friday, June 13.

Introducing the Becker Freedom Days Salute to Central Minnesota’s Veterans!

Because the Becker American Legion enriches our community in so many ways, there are plans in place to host a special evening in Post 193’s honor.  

The Becker Lions will once again play a vital role in the celebration, as they are providing libations and Elvis tribute artist Anthony Shore, who will perform a free concert for the entire community.

The Becker Association of Professional Educators (BAPE) will be sponsoring a silent auction and Colonel Ray Henry of IRAY Auctions will be on hand for a live auction experience you won’t want to miss.  Best of all, one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to support the Legion as they continue to remodel their building.  Thank you to Becker Township for allowing the use of the Band Stand Shell for the auction.  Many area businesses are providing amazing prizes for the auctions and there will be several incredible giveaways for Veterans in attendance (contact me if you or your business wants to participate).  In addition, there will be a Veterans Recognition Program to kick off the evening.

Did I mention food?  There will be many different options to choose from!

So, what can you do to show your support for our Veterans?

First of all, circle the date on your calendar - in INK!  Also, invite your Veteran friends and ask them to come to the event to be recognized. 

Don’t forget your lawn chair, as the evening promises to bring a huge crowd to enjoy the festivities.

After all, that’s what the Becker community does - we support organizations like the Becker Legion who give so much back to our community.

You’re all invited to this special event to honor Central Minnesota’s Veterans - let’s make it the biggest Veterans party these parts has ever witnessed!
